RJ Scaringe, an MIT graduate who studied engineering and lean manufacturing, originally founded the electric-vehicle startup Rivian as Mainstream Motors in 2009. He later renamed the new company Rivian, which is now one of the leading electric vehicle manufacturers. Scaringe’s experience with engineering and manufacturing processes has helped him create a successful company in Rivian. Scaringe grew up in Melbourne, Florida, where he would frequently spend time with his neighbor working on cars and exploring the outdoors.

This led him to create his company, which was designed with the intention of making nature more accessible while simultaneously preserving it.

The Rivian R1T pickup truck
The all-electric Rivian R1T boasts four electric motors, lightning-quick acceleration, and 314 miles of range, making it the most futuristic-looking all-electric pickup truck in the world. Rivian’s first model was awarded Editors’ Choice awards because of its credentials and more. This startup company is based in Irvine, California, and has been developing cars that can better compete with gas-powered ones. The 215.6-inch long crew cab-only R1T pickup truck lies somewhere in between the midsize Ford Ranger and the full-size Ram 1500 pickup trucks. The R1T is the first electric truck to make it to production, and it’s shaping up to be a competitive market. Soon, the Ford F-150 Lightning and GMC Hummer EV SUT will be joining the fray. With so many options on the table, it’s sure to be an exciting time for truck enthusiasts. Rivian plans to sell the R1T directly to consumers, as well as set up a network of service centers and stores that are similar to Teslas. This direct-to-consumer approach is a departure from the traditional auto industry model, which relies on third-party dealerships. Rivian believes that selling cars directly to consumers will allow it to better control the customer experience and build a stronger relationship with its customers.
The R1T will only be available with a quad-motor setup and a 128.9-kWh large battery pack if it hits the market in the first year. It is expected that a smaller standard battery and a larger “Max” battery will enter production next year, along with a new dual-motor option. This new dual-motor option is said to generate more than 600 horsepower. This would be a great addition to the current options and would give customers more choices. Rivian made the decision to increase the price of the new model 2022 R1T substantially, originally affecting those who had made reservations before March 1, 2022. However, after a customer backlash, they quickly decided to uphold the original reservations.
The R1T has an 835HP and can travel at 60 mph in just 3.3 minutes. It was the fastest pickup truck. The clearance ride height can be adjusted to 14 inches using the adjustable air suspension that’s standard at launch. At some point in the future, an additional electric motor will be added to each R1T, creating a dual-motor setup. Having two motors instead of one will likely provide a number of benefits, such as increased power and torque. In addition to all-wheel drive, it will generate more than 600 horsepower. The R1T’s quad-motor setup allows it to do something called a Tank Turns, where the electric motors rotate the left wheels in the opposite direction of the right ones, effectively spinning the truck on its axis. This is a useful feature for those who want to be able to maneuver their truck in tight spaces.
Rivian’s R1S SUV
The R1S SUV is a three-row suv making it one of only a few electric vehicles with a third row of seats. This makes it an attractive option for families who need more cargo space but want to go with the electric option. The R1S is a direct competitor to the Tesla Model X, with a lower price for the base model and higher towing capacity. It’s clear that the R1S was designed to take on the Model X in every way, and it’s sure to be a popular choice for buyers looking for an affordable, high-performance electric SUV. Many of the attributes of the R1S are similar to those of the R1T pickup. The 128.9-kWh battery pack is good for about 316 miles of driving range per charge, according to the EPA. The R1S is equipped with a quad motor system which gives its engine power of 835hp. The ride is firm and the handling is surprisingly easy for an SUV of this size. The R1S has superior off-road capability when compared to the Model X. It can handle more difficult terrain and is more stable on rough ground. A standard air suspension can raise the R1S up to a max of 15.0 inches of ground clearance.
The default configuration for the first model year is an all-wheel-drive setup with a 128.9-kWh battery pack. This configuration gives the vehicle amazing power and range. Among the multiple wheel-and-tire options and interior color choices, there’s a selection of upgradeable trim package features as well. Some of these features include adding heated seats, upgrading to a better sound system, or adding GPS navigation.
Both the R1S and the R1T have many of the same features, though the R1S has a more powerful battery pack. The R1S feels very fast with more than 800 horses on tap. All-wheel drive and impressive off-road capability are provided by the electric motor at each wheel. The models feature an air suspension that allows for variations in ground clearance to 15. 0 inches. The R1S feels more flexible than it should for a vehicle this size on the road. The ride can feel a little stiff at times, but it is controlled.
