In recent years there is an increasing amount of activity surrounding pure electric vehicles. We have seen consumer demand grow and governments adopt stricter guidlines for climate targets and zero emissions. This rise in interest is leading to greater innovation and development in the electric vehicle industry, as companies race to meet the needs of consumers and government regulations. As the automotive industry looks to the future, more and more automakers are turning their attention from the internal combustion engine to electric vehicles. Zero-emission EVs are becoming increasingly popular, as are electric SUVs and even pickup trucks. New and newly established automakers are especially interested in EVs, as they offer a way to meet rising emissions standards and tap into a growing market.
After doing some research, we compiled an extensive list of what we believe to be some of the best luxury electric cars made in the United States. Our goal is to help you make an informed choice when purchasing an electric luxury car, as there are now many great options available on the market. We hope our list provides you with some useful information as you begin your search for the perfect high-end cars among the new electric models.
1. Tesla Roadster
The stunning design of the all-new luxury Roadster is still a crowd-pleasing design even if the new Roadster has been delayed year after year. Tesla is taking every opportunity to remind fans and customers what it is working on, in hopes of keeping them patient for the long-awaited release. There have been many reasons for the repeated delays in launching the next-generation Roadster, and it is possible that the company’s priorities have changed. Now that the COVID-19 pandemic appears to be winding down and the semiconductor shortage appears to be less of a problem, it is possible that the all-new Roadster will be available in 2023—a five-year gap between product announcement and market launch. This is quite unusual for tech giants like Tesla, but if everything goes according to plan, we could see the all-new Roadster on the roads by 2023. The Tesla Roadster Second Generation is set to run for up to 620 miles on a single charge and to hit 60 mph in just 1.9 seconds. It is made at the Tesla Factory in Fremont, California. The next-level Roadster is said to have a top speed of 250 mph.
2. Chevrolet Corvette EV
Chevy is set to introduce several new electric vehicles in the next year or so, including the Corvette EV, Chevy Bolt EV Crossover, and the Chevy Cadillac Lyriq EV. These new EVs have been teased by President Biden himself, who seems to be a big fan of Chevy’s electric car offerings. With so many exciting new electric options on the horizon, it’s clear that Chevy is committed to making the switch to electric cars. This vehicle will be able to reach high speeds, up to 200 mph. The car will most likely be created at the Bowling Green Assembly along with all of the other cars.
The Kentucky facility, which has been in operation since 1981, has produced more than one million Corvettes. The facility is also very environmentally friendly. The plant has installed a large solar array to reduce its environmental footprint, as well as LED lighting and dry scrubber technology in the paint shop. These endeavors have helped the plant reduce its energy consumption and emissions. These features have gone a long way to making the Corvette EV not only American-made but quite a bit more eco-friendly than many other EVs.
3. BMW iX
BMW has completely redesigned the iX, a midsize crossover SUV, with an electric powertrain in mind. The 63-kWh battery pack in the car gives it an impressive range of 285 miles per charge. This makes it the perfect choice for those who are looking for a reliable and efficient EV that can still handle all of their daily driving needs. This battery pack gives the iX a whopping 335 horsepower, making it one of the most powerful vehicles on the road. With this much power, the iX can easily outrun other cars and trucks, making it a force to be reckoned with.
The BMW EV promises some exciting new luxury features, including Natural Interaction technology. This touch-sensitive material inside the car will enable a new way of communicating with the vehicle. This would allow drivers to control various features of the car without taking their hands off the steering wheel. Another potential feature is an intelligent energy management system that could optimize battery usage depending on traffic conditions and the driver’s desired destination. The new BMW iX is expected to be a 4-wheel drive vehicle, with optional two-axle air suspension, and soft-close doors. This new car is definitely one to watch out for!
4. Bollinger B1 and B2
Bollinger is an up-and-coming EV company that plans to release two EVs in the near future – an SUV (B1) and a pickup truck (B2). Although not nearly as well known as some of the other car makers on this list, Bollinger has made a name for itself in the EV world and is one to watch out for in the coming years. The new EVs will have an aluminum frame for a lighter weight, all-wheel drive for better traction, and a boxy appearance that will be unique on the road. The new electric trucks should have a range of 200 miles, be able to accelerate from 0 to 60 mph in 4.5 seconds, and have a maximum tow capacity of 7,500 pounds. The Bollinger B1 and B2 are practical, rugged trucks that will come with large battery packs (142-kWh) and dual electric motors. These vehicles will be able to handle tough terrain and carry heavy loads, making them ideal for a variety of applications. They offer an impressive 15-inch ground clearance and are the only Class 3 electric trucks on the planet, according to Bollinger. These electric trucks offer excellent torque, horsepower, and weight distribution. The off-road capabilities of these trucks are also enhanced by these features. The Bollinger EV trucks are designed and built in Detroit, with the company aiming to have a global impact by building their vehicles locally.
5. Chevrolet Bolt EV Crossover
The Chevrolet Bolt EV Crossover is going to be built at GM’s Orion Assembly plant in Michigan. The plant, which produces bolts, is benefiting from a $160 million upgrade. The upgrade will help the plant to produce more bolts and will improve the quality of the bolts that are produced. The new Electric Vehicle SUV from GM will offer plenty of space and be taller than a regular Bolt. In addition, it will come with GM’s Super Cruise semi-autonomous driving system. Connectivity to Super Cruise is included free of charge for three years if you purchase the Premier trim, after which a paid plan is required.
The current Bolt EV gets 259 miles on a charge, which is pretty good for an SUV. The Chevy EUV is estimated to get 250 miles range, which is also pretty good for an SUV. However, the BMW iX is expected to get a better range than both the Bolt EV and the Chevy EUV. The Chevy Bolt EUV is priced at $33,000 to start, which is far lower than a BMW! With this price tag, the Chevy Bolt EUV is more affordable for a wider range of consumers. This is good news for those who have been wanting to purchase an electric vehicle but have found the prices of other brands too high.
6. Lucid Air
The Lucid Air is a midsize electric luxury sedan that is made in Casa Grande, Arizona. The Lucid Air is expected to get a massive 406 miles of range on a single charge. Lucid Motors is an American car company that was formerly known as Atieva. The company specializes in electric vehicles and also handles energy storage. This makes Lucid Motors a one-stop shop for EV technology. The company was founded in 2007 and has headquarters in Newark, California. The company has been planning to build a manufacturing plant in China for a while now, but nothing has been concretely decided yet.
The Lucid Air Dream Edition, the company’s first car, is set for release this Spring. The new car’s all-wheel-drive architecture has a dual-motor, 1,080-hp motor. It is said to achieve an astounding 9.9 second-quarter mile time. This sets it apart from other electric sedans. It has an estimated EPA range of up to 517 miles, making it one of the longest-range EVs on the market. It also looks set to be the fastest-charging EV on the market, thanks to its high-speed charging capabilities. The Lucid Air Dream Edition can charge up to 20 miles per minute when connected to a DC Fast Charging network, which means that it could add 300 miles of travel time in just 20 minutes of charging. This electric vehicle may be able to reach up to 235 miles per hour when pushed to its limits. It also boasts a slick interior that rivals that of an Audi.
7. Ford F 150 EV (2022)
In Michigan, a state-of-the-art EV factory built the Ford F 150 EV. One of the most American-made EVs today is the F-150 EV. Its batteries were also made at Ford’s Rouge Center, making it one of the most truly American-made EVs on the market today. The Ford F 150 EV is designed for commercial users in minds, with a starting price of $39,974. This base model offers the standard equipment wit a few extras in terms of comfort and technology, but it is still a reliable and sturdy workhorse of a truck. The mid-series XLT starts at $52,974 and offers additional features like more comfort and technology that might be appealing to private buyers.
The F 150 EV is not just a shiny show truck. This tough and durable truck is set to be a real workhorse, able to tow up to 10,000 lbs. and carry a maximum payload of 2,000 lbs. It will also have superior control over a variety of terrains and road conditions. There are four drive modes: Normal, Sport, Tow/Haul, and Off-Road. Each drive mode customizes the 12-inch digital productivity screen to show information that is most relevant for that particular mode.
The expected driving range for the base model F 150 EV is 230 miles, while the extended range version is expected to go for 300 miles and will be priced in the mid $50,000s. The targeted 563 horsepower and 775 pound-feet of torque of the F-150 Lightning with the extended-range battery will make it accelerate faster than any other F-150 yet. It is targeting 0-60 mph in the mid-4 second range.
8. Rivian R1T
There is a lot of excitement surrounding the Rivian R1T, which is one of the best American-made EVs. This vehicle has an impressive range and capabilities, and many people are eager to see it hit the market. This pickup has a battery system that can operate in temperatures as low as -25 degrees Fahrenheit and as high as 130 degrees Fahrenheit. 9. Rivian R1S
Rivian is an Illinois-based company that designs and manufactures electric cars. One of their flagship models, the Rivian R1S, runs on an air-cooled thermal battery. The R1S is an electric SUV that starts at $70,000. It has a range of 300+ miles and can handle driving in up to 3 feet of water. It also has 14 inches of ground clearance and can rock crawl at a 100% grade. Furthermore, it reaches 60 mph in just 3 seconds and handles like a sports car.
The R1S is an SUV that has the same quad motor as the R1T truck. The difference between the two is that the R1S has a little less towing power, with a maximum of 7,700 pounds. The center of gravity for the R1S is also ultra-low, which makes it safer to handle. Like the R1T, the R1S also has a panoramic roof. For 2022, there will be an option to have an open-air roof. Up to seven people can fit inside the R1S. The second-row seats can be folded in a 60/40 split, with the third-row splitting 50/50. This makes it easy to optimize seating and storage, as there is a solid 108 cubic feet of storage available.
10. Tesla Cybertruck
Ever since Tesla unveiled the Cybertruck, people have been eagerly anticipating its release. However, Tesla has announced that the production of the Cybertruck has been pushed back to 2022. This news has come as a disappointment to those who were looking forward to getting their hands on the unique electric truck. There are significant concerns that as it stands, the design of the car won’t pass the US or European road safety tests. In part, this is because it provides very little pedestrian protection.
Even though it has yet to reach the production stage, the Cybertruck will eventually be assembled at the Gigafactory in Austin, Texas. Tesla’s Gigafactory is a massive factory that produces lithium-ion batteries and electric vehicles. Depending on your preference for single-, dual- or three-motor, the wedge-shaped truck could tow as much as 7,500 to 14,500 pounds. Once again, the range of the Cybertruck will depend on which motor you choose. It could be anywhere from 250 to 500 miles on a single charge. In addition, it has enough space to seat 6 people and 100 cubic feet of storage. Not to mention, you can raise or lower the 16-inch suspension by 4 inches if necessary.
The two-motor all-wheel drive is priced at $49,000. The three-motor AWD costs an additional $20,000, making it a total of $69,000. There has also been talk of a rear-wheel-drive Cybertruck that would be more affordable for customers at just $39,000.
11. Cadillac Lyriq
The Cadillac is set for an electric upgrade in the form of the Cadillac Lyriq. One of the first cars to use the Ultium battery technology will be the Lyriq, a station wagon-style EUV. This shift to electric cars is part of GM’s plan to have 20 new electrified models by 2023. The EV Cadillacs will be built in Tennessee at the Spring Hill Manufacturing factory for customers in North America and in China for customers in Asia. The move to build some of the cars overseas is likely due to the increasing demand for electric vehicles in China and other Asian markets.
The all-new Cadillac Lyriq SUV can comfortably seat up to 5 people and offers an impressive range of 300 miles on a single charge. For added convenience, there is also a dual on-board charging package available which allows the Lyriq to charge at up to 52 miles per charging hour on a Level 2 (AC) charger or 76 miles in just 10 minutes at a fast-charging DC charger.
The Lyriq is equipped with Chevy’s SuperCruise system, which allows for hands-free driving on certain roads. The interior is full of advanced features, including a 33-inch diagonal LED display. The Lyriq starts at $58,795.
12. Volkswagen ID4
The Volkswagen prank, which was deemed misleading, landed them in some hot water. However, the prank seems to be legitimate as it entails the sentiment that VW is committed to an electric vehicle future. This commitment is something that VW has been reiterating for some time now, and it’s good to see that they are still sticking to their guns despite the backlash from the prank. VW’s commitment to an electric future appears to be genuine, and this becomes clear when considering its recent actions and statements. The range of the first ID4 is 250 miles per charge, making it an affordable and practical option for drivers. This is just the first in a series of EVs that VW plans to release, so stay tuned for more information about other models in the future.
The starting price for the ID4 is $39,995 (or $32,495 with the federal EV rebate). This includes three years of free fast charging at Electrify America DC charging stations. These stations are found on most major highways across the US. At a DC fast charger, the ID4 can add 60 miles of driving time in about 10 minutes.
The production of the Volkswagen ID4 is set to begin at the VW Chattanooga plant in Tennessee. The 1st Edition ID4 has already sold out, but you can still pre-order the Pro edition. By 2029, Volkswagen aims to produce 20 million EVs.
13. GMC Hummer EV
The Hummer EV pickup and SUV will also be produced at the GM Detroit-Hamtramck Assembly Center in Michigan, with the potential for early rollouts in 2022 for the pickups. However, you’ll have to wait until 2023 for the SUV.
This massive pickup truck will have an impressive 1,000 horsepower, allowing it to reach 60 mph in a mere 3 seconds. In addition, it will be able to handle off-roading like a champ and will come with Super Cruise included for 3 years. The vehicle will also feature removable roof panels for some spectacular off-road fun and stargazing opportunities in the backcountry.
If you’re disappointed that the Launch Edition of the new car is already sold out, don’t worry – you’ll still have a chance to get your hands on one when the 2023 model year rolls around. Prices for that model will start at $79,995 and go up to $99,995, so there should be an option that fits your budget.
14. Lordstown Endurance
The Lordstown Endurance is an electric vehicle that is made in America. It is a car that is being released in 2022 and it is one to watch for. The reasons to watch for this car are because it is made in America and it is an electric vehicle. These two factors make the Lordstown Endurance a car worth watching for in the future. The work truck, which was meant to hit the production line in 2020, was made at an old GM factory location in Lordstown, Ohio. However, the truck’s release has been delayed until this year due to pandemic-related problems.
The all-new Nikola Motor Company Endurance has four hub-mounted electric motors that deliver an expected range of 250 miles on a single charge. The vehicle is powered by a 109 kWh battery and is set to be able to tow up to 7,500 lbs. It also features 600 horsepower and a top speed of 80 mph. The Endurance will cost $52,500 before any federal tax incentives. This is a very affordable price for such a high-quality car. With its many features and great design, the Endurance is sure to be a popular choice among consumers.
